Abstract:
Although several geological models were proposed for the northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau into Alxa, the intracrustal structure is still obscure. 38 three-component broadband seismograph stations were used to acquire the passive data from October 2011 to March 2013. Based on the dense broadband seismic array, we applied a joint inversion of surface wave dispersions and receiver functions with P velocity constraints to get the Receiver Functions (RFs), Vs profile and Vp/Vs profile. The results show fine velocity characteristic of intracrustal structure, Moho and uppermost mantle rather than simple interface profile. Our observations indicate that West Qingling fault was the boundary between the ductile lithosphere under the Tibetan Plateau and rigid lithosphere under Asian Block.
