Abstract:
Accelerometers have been used widely in geophysical research including ground deformation monitoring. In order to retrieve accurate ground motion from accelerometer measurements, the bias of the accelerometers should be corrected. The instability of the accelerometer biases tends to be more pronounced in low-cost MEMS accelerometers than high-grade seismometers. Based on the Kalman filter formulation, we designed a self-calibrating algorithm to correct the biases of MEMS accelerometers with GNSS aiding and present some of results obtained with the algorithm based on simulated data.
