Abstract:
The climate forcing by human-made alteration of aerosols is the largest uncertainty in interpretation of climate change in the Anthropocene. It is a complex problem, because the effect of aerosols on clouds is an important part of the aerosol forcing. Understanding of the aerosol forcing will only grow in importance as humanity realizes that it must come to grips with global climate change. I will discuss a proposed observational system to obtain the essential global data.
