Changing Water Use Patterns during COVID-19 in NYC

Abstract:

According to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by Johns Hopkins University Center, there are 188 countries affected by the Covid-19 outbreak on June 29, 2020. Besides, the total cases worldwide of this pandemic are 10,146,971, and deaths are 501,940 [1]. During current pandemic, access to clean water and proper sanitation are essentially important [2]. The use of water has changed around the world due to governmental policies and guidelines (such as “PAUSE Stay at Home Order”) on controlling the spread of coronavirus. To better understand the impacts of water usage during coronavirus pandemic-related lock down, our research project focuses on studying possible changes in water consumption patterns in five boroughs of New York City.
