Abstract:
The numerical prediction of In-Situ Combustion as an EOR technique is a challenging task, as it involves multiphase, multicomponent, compressible, reactive flows in a porous media. A Streamline-based code is being developed for this purpose, and we here present its current functionalities and strategies adopted to benefit from the advantages of the Streamlines Method. We show that this method is very efficient and accurate in such strongly advection-dominated flows. In particular, the current implementation is shown to be inherently conservative and able to capture sharp shocks in a coarser mesh when compared to traditional Finite Volume Methods.
