Planetary Science Decadal Survey Whitepaper Analysis using AI

Abstract:

Strategic planning for NASA’s science program begins with the Decadal Survey, conducted by the National Academies. It may be possible to enhance that process through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Here, we have examined the ~300 science whitepapers submitted to the Planetary Science Decadal Survey in July using Quid, a commercially available AI tool. We shall present the results of our analysis of the important topics and groupings found among the submissions, and thoughts on the potential for the Decadal Survey report.
