Abstract:
The Complex-Envelope (CE) expresses a waveform in terms of its dual time series of instantaneous amplitude (IAMP) and instantaneous phase (IPHS). We propose a novel Active Geophysical Monitoring (AGM) transmission system with IPHS detection and timing (Unger, 2002[i], 2010[ii]), employing a new-technology seismic land source (Noorlandt, 2016[iii]; Seismic-Mechatronics.com). The net result will be replacing traditional noisy, side-lobed signal amplitude seismograms with clean, precise, multiple-signal arrival spike time series for high-resolution seismic prospecting, and for active Lithosphere and reservoir parameter imaging and monitoring, potentially facilitating earthquake forming and volcano process analysis. In Passive Geophysical Monitoring (PGM), the CE technique has been demonstrated to lead to automatic detection and earthquake vs. explosion discrimination algorithms for Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (NTBT) monitoring. We show AGM simulation and NTBT real data results.
