Abstract:
The COVID pandemic is transforming our globalised world. It is exposing inequalities and accelerating socio-economic changes. As any crisis, it created a window of opportunity to reinvent ourselves, both as a society and as individuals – but challenges are numerous. Even if we have been forced to react on emergency mode, most of the experienced challenges have no quick fix.

As many recognise, it is an opportunity to think and act out-of-the-box. To look for solutions in an open dialogue with stakeholders – minorities included or else we will miss this unique opportunity.

COVID pandemic is pushing us all to react fast in uncharted territory. Solutions may not be universal nor permanent, but can inspire actions by others. It is important to remain vigilant and flexible, in order to adjust to new conditions as the pandemic evolve.

This presentation focus on actions taken by European Research Council (ERC) adapting the face-to-face evaluations to fully remote and supporting researchers unable to pursue their research programmes.
