There is no vaccine for sea level rise

Abstract:

Waiting in the wings of the current coronavirus pandemic are the emerging impacts of climate change, the next big challenge. Since there will be no vaccine to stem sea level rise, we need to address the balancing act between ocean-as-sustainer and ocean-as-threat which has produced a very wide range of coastal ocean “management” strategies that have themselves often resulted in significant short and long-term changes to that balance. The question now becomes how can the coastal ocean community address the risks and impacts of climate change?

Here the focus is on two essential ingredients – observations and modeling - required to understand the force of water as the climate changes. The presentation will discuss the use of Jupiter’s data stream employing millions of ground based and satellite sensors - its volume, velocity and variety - and on Jupiter’s ClimateScore Intelligent platform which leverages cloud computing to run and link multiple prediction models that ingest data to deliver hyperlocal short-to-medium-term probabilistic predictions. These predictions are targeted to enable a resilient ecosystem to better address customers' needs, foster innovation across business, political, academic and social fabrics.
