Requirements of Data Portal for Atmospheric Data Measurement in the Brazilian context
Abstract:
After defining a data quality framework and metric conventions to handle data efficiently, a data portal is required for its publication and distribution of data so that it can be free and available in a web platform with Data Distribution Services. Despite the diversity and amount of data generated, there is an absence of web platforms in the Brazilian context that gather such data, making integration and access to data more difficult, as well as obtaining intelligence from this collection.
Thus, we propose essential requirements for the development of a Data Portal, in such a way that it can achieve Big Data processing, human interaction and download-oriented approaches. To achieve the project objective, a requirements analysis was carried out using software engineering methodologies from the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM: www.arm.gov) platform and the FAIR principles for managing and administering scientific data. ARM provides a set of tools that help users to catalog, publish and analyse atmospheric data. The data portal’s functional requirements perform a wide variety of tasks, such as metadata management, data discovery, data citations, quality reports, and data access via the web. These tasks are considered as data recovery tools and FAIR tools.
This paper specifies the requirements for a data portal for the atmospheric science community in Brazil.
