Abstract:
We hereby report the recent behavior and characters of Earth’s rotational pole on the surface of the Earth as well as on the celestial sphere as residual pole offset besides precession and nutation. Using Fourier transform and modeling on recent dataset of polar motion and Earth’s fluid spheres, we found (1) Chandler period as 432 days and its Q-value around 100, (2) annual wobble is mainly caused by seasonal atmospheric loading cycle on northern Eurasian continent. By similar analysis on the celestial pole offset (δX, δY) dataset, we found (3) large variation of the celestial pole perturbation in both its period (420 – 450 days centered at 436 days) and amplitude. We also report (4) other characters of pole such as its long term movement and Earthquake induced displacement (including effect of post-seismic deformation).
