Abstract:
PlasmaPy is a community-developed open source Python package for plasma research and education that is currently under development. PlasmaPy is being developed to provide the core functionality needed for an open source software ecosystem for heliospheric, laboratory, and astrophysical plasma science. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of plasma science, PlasmaPy is being developed in partnership with the Python in Heliophysics Community. In this presentation, we will describe the capabilities of PlasmaPy version 0.4.0 and discuss the development roadmap for both the PlasmaPy core package and the broader software ecosystem. We will conclude by discussing how members of the broader plasma community can contribute to this project.
