Abstract:
The fabric industry is experiencing growth as a result of economic and environmental changes, and an increase in population. Technology advancement, shape memorial materials, chemistry, and electrical sensors allow the fabric industry to innovate smart fabric products. The smart fabric technology enables scientists to introduce a new technology to save energy and help the environment through the production of Thermochromism control fabric, windproof resistance fabric, water resistance fabric, fire resistance fabric, etc.

The smart fabric technology has the ability to prevent the detrimental effects of floodwaters. This paper discusses the benefits of the smart fabric technology for saving water and introduces the new generation of smart fabric that helps to prevent water flooding. This paper also presents a methodological approach to research and to creative practice, including the experimental methods and modeling for the characterization of water management and water management strategies by using the smart fabric technology.

While the paper's focus is on fabric technology, the trend of the recent smart fabric developments will be possibly implemented for urban-scaled development of smart neighborhoods and cities in the future.
