Abstract:
This project is about preparing urban and rural communities for climate change in several ways. First; those communities must be prepared for climate change driven extreme weather events, and this project will provide the extreme weather events analyses necessary to adapt infrastructure and operations systems to cope with increasing weather stresses. Second, these communities will be transitioning to renewable energy systems that provide energy security, and energy supply and price stability within a meaningful Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management Plan. Renewable energy systems development will bring community economic growth in the coming decades, and those renewable energy systems and GHG management will earn communities carbon credits income for reducing GHG emissions.Third, we are evaluating how to enhance regional food security with enhanced production in commercial scale greenhouses operating with non-carbon energy systems for heating and cooling. Finally, we are evaluating alternative biofuels systems to provide energy storage and net zero carbon emissions.
