Abstract:
Current sheets are coherent structures playing a fundamental role in the dissipation of the solar wind turbulence. There is lack of detailed understanding of properties and origin of kinetic-scale current sheets in the solar wind, where the most of dissipation is expected to occur. In this talk we present detailed statistical analysis of kinetic-scale current sheets measured close to the Sun, around 0.3 AU, aboard Parker Solar Probe, and around 1 AU measured aboard the Wind spacecraft. By comparing the properties of the current sheets at 0.3 and 1 AU we address the origin of current sheets and demonstrate that current sheets are produced locally by the turbulence cascade.
