On Recurrent Active Region Coronal Jets: Coronal Geyser Sources of Electron Beams and Interplanetary Type-III Radio Bursts

Abstract:
Recurrent jets are small-scale collimated eruptions observed in some active region penumbra. The leading cause and the observed recurrences are not yet fully understood. We analysed the eruption mechanism responsible for at least ten observed recurrent jets, all occurring at the south-eastern penumbral boundary of the 11302AR. We discovered a peculiar arched structure in the lower corona linked to a "coronal geyser". Jet eruptions have been associated with Type-III radio bursts that are manifestations of traveling non-thermal electron beams. Our analysis was extended to studies of six Geysers which released more than 50 recurrent jets with correspondent Type-III radio bursts, revealing an amazing solar activity and suggesting that indeed Geysers act as coronal sources for Type-III bursts, and, implicitly, can upward accelerate electron beams.
