This study examines the interannual variability of rainfall based on the analysis of the Global Rainfall Climatology Project (GPCP) on the Sahel particularly in northern Senegal (15°N - 17°N; 17°W-12°W). In this region, we found that there is a relationship between sea level pressure north and south of the Atlantic Ocean (Azores and St. Helena High) and mean monthly precipitation in summer (JJAS). This area of low rainfall is due to several factors: the height and depth of the monsoon, the SST of the different oceans, etc. The relationship between sea level pressure in the north and south of the Atlantic Ocean (Azores and St. Helena High) and the mean monthly rainfall in summer (JJAS). It can be seen that over the study area, the rotational wind 700hPa comes from the northeast, i.e. with a negative sign which is synonymous with a minimum of eddies. Wavelet analysis shows that sea level pressure (SLP) oscillations are in phase with precipitation in our study area.
