Organics in the Atmosphere and Some Reflections on Air Quality Research

Abstract:

Over the past two decades, our ability to measure organics in the atmosphere has improved dramatically. This has led to many new insights into the sources of organics, their chemical transformations and contributions to ozone and aerosol formation. In this presentation, I will describe my personal history of contributing to this field.

Air quality research has been very successful in affecting public policy and in improving air pollution and public health issues across the globe. I will end the presentation by reflecting on some ways to improve our research and new directions to expand into.
