High-Resolution Data Analysis and Modeling in Atmospheric and Space Electricity

Session ID#: 118149

Session Description:
Atmospheric and space electricity involves complex physical phenomena that manifest across a multitude of spatial and temporal scales. To observe or simulate these phenomena, researchers often make use of high-resolution approaches such as detecting and measuring high-energy radiation; high-speed photography, spectroscopy, and videography; multi-dimensional mapping of lightning using radio emissions and other methods; cloud-resolving models coupled with electrification schemes; and complex models of subatomic particle motion and collisions. Results from these approaches are often difficult to present easily in traditional conference formats such as slide-based talks (which limit interactivity) and static posters. Therefore, this session is intended for atmospheric and space electricity studies that would benefit from a non-traditional presentation format that improves the ability to interactively present complex scientific results. Studies focusing on all aspects of atmospheric and space electricity are highly encouraged, particularly if they are best communicated through frequent use of video, animations, and other advanced visualizations.
