Global Ocean Sciences and impacts to inland human lives and habitats

Session ID#: 118597

Session Description:
The oceans play fundamental roles in thermal energy and tectonics dynamics, which cause

climate change and natural disasters through variations in thermal and dynamical energy storages in oceans. The severe influences appear in phenomena of SST anomaly dipoles along with super storm surges and earthquakes including tsunami inundations. Those factors increase the vulnerability of the human society by water hazards and unexpected pandemic of infectious diseases through climate variation/change and possible shifts in viruses and vectors such as birds and wild animals.

This session aims to understand the mechanisms to prevent human risks by natural

hazards and spread of infectious diseases in country, continental and global scales especially in coastal low-lying areas, where so many mega-cities are situated for ease of world trades through ports.
