Tethered Aerosystems

Session ID#: 119283

Session Description:
The use of Tethered AeroSystems such as kites and moored balloons is on the rise for local-scale atmospheric and terrestrial observations. Advancements in instrumentation and flight systems are enabling new and exciting capabilities for capturing detailed observations for field research, routine measurements, and flight operations training. Potential benefits of these emerging systems include quick deployment, persistence and distributed simultaneous flights. High altitude capabilities are also under development, as are concepts for planetary exploration. Presentations will include traditional, developmental, and notional concepts and interests.
