Leveraging Earth Observations for Mitigating Critical Environmental Challenges in South and Southeast Asia
Leveraging Earth Observations for Mitigating Critical Environmental Challenges in South and Southeast Asia
Session ID#: 119323
Session Description:
The complexities associated with resource allocation and environmental decision-making in the South and Southeast Asia regions are exacerbated by growing population centers, combined with the increased variability of floods and droughts. This session focuses on applied research efforts in these regions that incorporate Earth observations to generate tools, products, applications, and services that support environmental decision-making by governmental institutions, non-governmental agencies, and the general public. The major challenges facing the region include food security and agriculture, water resources management, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and rapidly changing land use and ecosystems. Submissions are welcome from researchers and practitioners focusing on addressing these societal challenges for the South and Southeast Asia regions.
