Advances in virtual field experiences
Advances in virtual field experiences
Session ID#: 119402
Session Description:
Virtual field experiences have grown in both sophistication and usage in recent years as technologic advances make them easier to create and more accessible for students. The unprecedented circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic drew particular attention to the value of virtual access to field learning. We invite contributions that highlight the latest developments in the use, creation, and study of virtual field experiences. We hope to showcase a range of projects, including new technological developments, such as AR/VR or advances in browser-based experiences, and new use cases for virtual field experiences, such as incorporation into existing courses, addressing accessibility challenges, and preparation for in-person field trips. Where possible, we strongly encourage contributions that include evaluation and data on the effectiveness of virtual field experiences.
