Assessing linkages between food systems and human health under climate change
Assessing linkages between food systems and human health under climate change
Session ID#: 120509
Session Description:
Food systems play a critical role in determining human health outcomes, and strategies to improve their sustainability will be key for achieving public health and environmental goals in tandem. Human health is impacted by the food system directly through the provisioning of nutrition and indirectly through agriculture-associated air and water pollution. In addition, both food systems and human health are being increasingly influenced by climate change. Understanding the linkages between food systems and human health, as well as the ways by which climate change is altering these connections, is therefore essential for achieving sustainable and resilient food systems in the future. We welcome submissions covering food-health-environment linkages across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Health impacts of food production; Climate change influences on food security and nutrition; Solutions to improved human health and environmental sustainability; Nutrition- and income-sensitive adaptations to climate change.
