Emerging Agricultural Monitoring and Assessment Trends

Session ID#: 120545

Session Description:
The agricultural community requires technological innovation to feed a growing population and maintain food security. This innovation requires research and development efforts to devise new methods or improve upon existing to spur new technology trends. The remote sensing and geospatial communities are evolving to meet these challenges by creating new products and services to monitor and assess cropping, pasture, range, and urban agricultural ecosystems. As new satellite systems are put on orbit, scalable compute is widely available for researchers to discover new methods to monitor and assess agricultural conservation, cultivation, and production strategies. Topics include products and services related to machine learning methods for predictive land use/land cover modeling, land cover trend analysis, generation of synthetic ground reference datasets, early season crop identification methods, producer climate adaptation and mitigation efforts, agricultural soil moisture monitoring, precision ag and yield monitoring and assessment, and food security.
