Advances in Interactions of Air Quality and Public Health Using Integrated Modeling Frameworks

Session ID#: 120990

Session Description:
Air pollution is the largest environmental health risk factor. Increased information is critically needed to facilitate decision making and accelerate mitigation action. In this session, we invite abstracts employing interdisciplinary approaches to quantify source contributions to air pollution across all spatial scales and impacts on public health. We invite new studies utilizing advances in atmospheric science and epidemiology with implications or applications in integrated air quality-health impact assessments. We also encourage studies focused on engagement with stakeholders and decision makers. Topics could include:

  • new studies of air quality (PM2.5, ozone and precursors) relevant to public health assessments: novel atmospheric chemistry mechanisms, measurement data, novel or missing emission sources, or advances in climate change impacts on atmospheric composition.
  • advances in epidemiology, novel exposure assessment methods (dynamic exposures, hyperlocal data), exposure ranges, morbidity outcomes (birth outcomes, asthma incidence) attributable to air pollutant exposure, baseline disease rates, disparities and cumulative impacts.
Co-Organized:
  • A - Atmospheric Sciences
  • SY - Science and Society
