Machine Learning for Weather and Climate: Predictions and Applications

Session ID#: 121117

Session Description:
In the recent times the machine learning/artificial intelligence (AI) techniques are being widely used for various aspects of weather and climate predictions and applications. Those techniques are also being used to understand and forecast the extreme events such as floods, droughts, heat waves etc. In addition, those techniques are increasingly used in improving numerical model initialization/parameterization schemes and also in downscaling to improve the information of the coarse resolution global model forecasts for their use in various societal applications. The forecasts of diseases such as malaria are also benefitted by AI/machine learning techniques. This session aims to bring together the researchers working on various AI/machine learning techniques to discuss and enhance the understanding of weather and climate as well as their predictions and applications for societal benefits and well-being.
