New developments in the Re-Os isotope system

Session ID#: 121165

Session Description:
Rhenium and osmium (Re-Os) are mostly enriched in sulfides, mantle derived rocks, organic-rich sedimentary rocks, crude oil, and environmental products. This makes the Re-Os system a powerful tool to date geological processes in multiple disciplines. Recent theoretical and analytical advances in mass spectrometry have also opened up the exciting possibility of using stable Re and Os isotopes to trace environmental and magmatic processes.

This session invites contributions from all aspects of Re and Os isotope geochemistry (both stable and radiogenic), including but not limited to: theoretical calculations, modelling, analytical method development, geochronology, continental growth, mantle geochemistry, mineral and petroleum exploration, and modern- and paleo-environments.
