Physical Properties of Earth Materials (PPEM): The long and the short of it
Physical Properties of Earth Materials (PPEM): The long and the short of it
Session ID#: 121820
Session Description:
Long-term geological processes such as plate tectonics and mantle convection involve deformation of Earth materials by a variety of processes, with length scales ranging from atomic to continental and timescales from instantaneous to orogenic. This session will explore the deformation of rock, ice, and analog materials over a variety of length and timescales, including brittle and ductile regimes and their interaction. We welcome contributions from laboratory experiments, theoretical analyses, field observations, and any combination thereof that illuminate the mechanisms of deformation and their interplay.
