Advancing the Science of Natural Climate Solutions
Advancing the Science of Natural Climate Solutions
Session ID#: 121875
Session Description:
Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) are practices that utilize natural and agricultural systems to climate change. Research on NCS typically focus on the effects of land management practices on the flux of carbon and other greenhouse gases. However, as governments and other organizations seek to implement NCS, research is needed to develop novel forms of NCS and the quantification of the affect these practices have on other crucial services these systems provide. This session solicits studies quantifying the effects of NCS on carbon sequestration and other ecosystem services. The session will highlight studies that have quantified both the climate mitigation benefits and the co-benefits from NCS including, environmental, economic, and social impacts. This is an all-inclusive session soliciting studies in any global terrestrial or estuarine system. The studies can include policy, market, or purely management driven practices on regional, jurisdictional, or local scales.
