Progress in Reanalysis: Development, Evaluation, and Application
Progress in Reanalysis: Development, Evaluation, and Application
Session ID#: 121925
Session Description:
Reanalysis is a scientific method for producing a physically complete estimation of the past state of geophysical systems. Over the last decade, reanalyses have become a popular tool being used for various purposes in weather- and climate-related sciences. Reanalyses are employed as a basis for applications building on long-term gridded data sets and as a source of information on short- and long-term variability of the climate system. Continuous developments and the production of new global and regional data sets provide constant improvements of quality. Recently efforts have increased in generating reanalyses with a coupled approach, e.g., earth system, land-atmosphere, ocean-atmosphere, etc. The session therefore invites contributions on new developments, evaluation and intercomparison (especially with respect to energy, water or carbon cycle) as well as applications of reanalyses. We welcome contributions from all types of reanalyses, including but not limited to global, regional, atmospheric, ocean, land and coupled reanalysis systems.
