Molecular Understanding of Plant-Microbe-Soil Interactions in the Rhizosphere Using Surface Sensitive and Imaging Techniques
Session ID#: 122624
Session Description:
The rhizosphere is a highly heterogeneous system, mainly composed of roots, mineral particles, organic matters and microbiome. The plant-microbe-soil interactions in the rhizosphere are closely related to surface properties. However, a molecular-level understanding of the surface interactions has been challenging, majorly due to the inherent complexity of this system and limitations of analytic techniques. Therefore, though many models to explain mass transfer in the rhizosphere have been developed, their prediction results are not unsatisfying. This session focuses on research that employs multiple experimental techniques including at least one surface analysis method to better understanding plant-microbe-soil interactions in the rhizosphere. We invite presentations featuring interesting scientific discoveries using surface analysis tools, as well as novel techniques to investigate the various surfaces in the rhizosphere. Correlative imaging using multi-techniques and relevant advanced data analysis tools are greatly encouraged.
