Hydroclimatic modeling, analyses, and projections in South Asia: Challenges and Opportunities

Session ID#: 123120

Session Description:
Climate variability and rapid urbanization are increasing the frequency and intensity of hydroclimatic extremes across South Asia. Complex terrains and data scarcity pose both challenges and opportunities in hydroclimatic analyses, modeling, and projections. There have been considerable efforts on hydroclimatic research over the past decades in the region. However, a significant challenge remains in integrating the sparse dots of knowledge. This session intends to provide a collective view on (a) existing trends of hydroclimatic research, (b) evaluating knowledge and innovative approaches to fill the data gaps, and (c) identifying opportunities for research in hydrology and climate science in the region. We anticipate abstracts, particularly from the region, including the Himalayas and beyond. Also, abstracts potentially replicable to the region are welcome.
