CMIP6 highlights and lessons learned
CMIP6 highlights and lessons learned
Session ID#: 123360
Session Description:
Global model simulations from the Climate Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) coordinated by the World Climate Research Program have been performed worldwide by over 50 different modeling centers over the last two years or so. One key aspect of CMIP6 has been its extensive set of satellite MIPs, in addition to the DECK and historical simulations, to address a range of specific questions and fill specific scientific gaps of the previous CMIP phases. CMIP6 model results have provided an important line of evidence in support of the assessment of the Working Group I of the IPCC AR6. The current session is looking for presentations that would specifically highlight main results from the various MIPs, in addition to providing insights on scientific and programmatic challenges to inform the planning for upcoming phases in CMIP.
