Inclusivity in Geosciences: A Conversation between Scientists and Educators

Session ID#: 123626

Session Description:
Science education has the potential to be a sustained collaboration between scientists and educators. Educators working in different learning environments will have different experiences, perspectives and approaches for improving inclusivity in the field of geoscience. The goal of our proposed session is to create a space for conversation between educators with experience in different learning environments (e.g., from colleges and universities, high schools and middle schools, museums, outreach programs) to discuss the importance of and approaches for improving inclusivity in geoscience education. Through this discussion, educators will share their knowledge and skills for making learning inclusive to diverse audiences in any learning environment, such as lectures, laboratory activities, remote learning, and field trips. This collaboration has the potential to lead to more holistic outreach experiences within local communities, and improve inclusivity at all levels of earth science education and the geosciences as a whole.
