Recent advances and novel applications of waterborne geophysical methods.
Recent advances and novel applications of waterborne geophysical methods.
Session ID#: 123725
Session Description:
The utility and advantages of near surface geophysical methods has been widely recognized in recent years. While on shore usage is thriving, with widespread adoption and expanding research on novel applications, the off-shore application is severely lagging. With the exception of marine seismic surveys for hydrocarbon exploration, waterborne applications of near-surface geophysical methods have been limited and are of experimental nature.
This session solicit research that highlights new possibilities offered by the waterborne use of established near surface geophysical methods while exploring areas of new applications. Recent examples of waterborne electrical resistivity, self-potential, ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic methods for primarily geological characterization highlight the potential that exists. We welcome submissions on electrical and electromagnetic waterborne surveys, along with novel applications of waterborne seismic applications for subsurface investigations.
