Remediation of co-contamination in groundwater and soil

Session ID#: 123762

Session Description:
Co-existence of various contaminants in groundwater and soil has caused more and more attentions in the past years, such as organic-organic, organic-inorganic and/or inorganic-inorganic contaminants. Co-contamination in groundwater and soil has posed serious damages to environment and human health, and consequently made its remediation more difficult in practices. Effective remediation of co-contaminated groundwater and soil systems has become a challenging issue for sustainable socio-economic development and eco-environmental protection. This session will provide a platform for presenting and exchanging emerging ideas and latest research related to co-contamination remediation in groundwater and/or soil, including but not limited to fate and transport of co-contaminants in porous media, modeling and optimization of remediation processes, development and application of in-situ and ex-situ remediation techniques, risk analysis, decision support, and best management practices for co-contaminated site remediation.
