Advances in remote sensing of Agro-Hydro Meteorology in developing nations
Advances in remote sensing of Agro-Hydro Meteorology in developing nations
Session ID#: 123911
Session Description:
Agro-Hydrometeorology is critical in conceptualizing, developing and analyzing the impacts of meteorology on broader understanding and uptake of biogeophysical models and processes. In developing nations, the general limitations in quality meteorological datasets combined with scant in-situ observations may hamper research related to agriculture, water resources, and food security. In this session, we seek the latest research concepts and applications in the fields of agriculture, Food Security and hydrology using remotely sensed observations (satellite, UAVs etc.) that lead to better monitoring and mapping ground conditions and enhance the decision making in disaster risk reduction. This may include crop monitoring and mapping, yield estimations, drought conditions, runoff/streamflow estimation, flood monitoring, etc. We welcome research related to the use of Earth observation datasets for model forcing; improving performance through data assimilation; enhancing quality/availability of through multi-spectral/resolution data fusion; and downscaling techniques to ultimately improve the characterization of ground conditions over developing nations.
