Climate Change Innovation: Challenges and Opportunities
Climate Change Innovation: Challenges and Opportunities
Session ID#: 124173
Session Description:
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing society today. Geoscientists play an important role to ideate and devise use-inspired solutions that preserve the environment through engagement with scientists and other practitioners in relevant disciplines. Advances in science, technology, and engineering can be brought together in a meaningful way to achieve innovative solutions. A thriving earth is critically dependent on all parts of the enterprise coming together. Translational research using science, engineering, technology, and education has the potential to yield transformative outcomes for the well-being and safety of people and drive prosperity, health, and economic security.
This session will consist of 6-8 invited talk that describe challenges and opportunities associated with achieving innovative solutions to climate-related impacts in different sectors e.g. agriculture, energy, infrastructure, transportation. The goal is to generate discussions on how a roadmap for a thriving planet earth may be developed through translation of the scientific research and technology to outcomes for the benefit of society.
