Getting the most value from ocean and aquatic environmental satellite observations: Ocean, coastal and/or inland water applications using cutting edge techniques and practices to address environmental, ecological and human concerns.

Session ID#: 124473

Session Description:
Satellite observations for estimating physical, ecological, and some biological properties in ocean, coastal, and aquatic environments have matured to provide valuable information for operational applications that support decision-making. Newer satellite sensors and processing techniques are coming online to enable higher resolutions and proxies for more parameters that can serve an expanding array of applications. We invite research where the strengths of satellite-based observations of oceanic, coastal and/or inland water properties are leveraged and have been combined with modern analytical or machine learning techniques and/or other data sources to develop applications addressing pressing environmental and socio-economic challenges. We are especially interested in collaborative presentations that feature both the basic scientific or technological advances well as how the resulting research was implemented in applications to solve real-world, societal or environmental problems.
