Innovations in Workforce Development for the Space Industry
Innovations in Workforce Development for the Space Industry
Session ID#: 124517
Session Description:
Traditional undergraduate STEM education does not always adequately prepare students to enter the technical workforce without additional opportunities that include hands-on labs, authentic science and engineering team-based projects, and internships. Students at smaller schools often do not get access to these opportunities due to their location, faculty expertise, lack of connections with industry, and funding limitations. We invite papers to share innovations in workforce development that highlight diversity, inclusion, equity, and access elements from funders, program leaders, students, and alumni to share challenges, successes, and visions for how to better prepare all undergraduate students to enter the space related workforce.
