Climate Literacy: Building Inclusive Climate Empowerment and Learning Strategies to Accelerate Climate Action in a Changing World

Session ID#: 124639

Session Description:
States, cities, Tribal Nations, national non-profits, community-based organizations, and private companies have committed themselves to finding and implementing climate solutions. Likewise, numerous initiatives and programs within federal and subnational governments have made substantial progress toward building understanding and capacity to respond to climate change within various sectors of society. Climate science provides an urgent timetable and low-carbon technology is ready to be deployed; the major remaining challenge to widespread climate action is political. ACE is the catalyst for sustained, equitable, society-wide just climate action.

This session explores how Tribal Nations, national and community-based non-profits, governments, private sector organizations, educational institutions, climate science and justice leaders envision a national climate empowerment strategy and the changes needed to develop just, climate-focused education, training and public engagement. This session encourages abstracts describing examples of ACE-accelerated just climate action and ways in which ACE is already present in climate and community work.
