Solar Eclipses: Opportunities for Science and Education Outreach
Solar Eclipses: Opportunities for Science and Education Outreach
Session ID#: 125032
Session Description:
In 2017 a total solar eclipse across America excited many scientists, citizen scientists, educators and the general public to observe and improve our understanding of the Sun-Earth-Moon relationship. On October 14, 2023 an annular eclipse will race across the United States from Oregon to Texas before crossing the Central America and South America. Six months later, on April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will trace a path over Mexico, the United States and Canada.
These and near-future solar eclipses provide great opportunities to conduct science and to engage learners in various locations and formats. This session invites instrument scientists, citizen scientists, eclipse chasers, and educators to share their experiences and plans.
