Cloud Observations and Measurements from Remote-Sensing Instruments
Cloud Observations and Measurements from Remote-Sensing Instruments
Session ID#: 156878
Session Description:
Measurements of clouds’ physical and optical characteristics are essential to understanding their role in atmospheric radiative transfer and climate studies. Nowadays, datasets from ground and satellite measurements need integration to find common ground on how different approaches complement each other. This session invites papers dealing with cloud measurements from radar, lidar, satellite, cameras, scientific campaigns, etc., and networking efforts. This session convenes researchers to discuss innovative algorithms and methodologies currently applied to cloud remote sensing measurements, results, and implications to initiate possible collaborations among scientists. Topics include
1. Long-term measurements and monitoring of clouds from satellite and ground instruments;
2. Cloud classifications (results, algorithms, etc.);
3. Cloud detection algorithms;
4. Multi-sensor cloud measurements;
5. Spectroscopic measurements of clouds;
6. Machine learning algorithms for cloud detection and classification;
