Preparedness and Planning for Healthy Shared Water Systems Under Climate Change

Session ID#: 157122

Session Description:
Rapid population, economic growth, and climate variations have shown us the great importance of environmental sustainability for the livelihoods of Earth’s population. That is because a balanced relationship between available water resources and human consumption of those resources is quite challenging, especially under climate uncertainties. This session encourages submissions that use a variety of datasets in multidisciplinary studies, showcasing innovations in assessments of water systems and resilient communities. We seek contributions related to:

  • The value of information sharing and strategic planning and how they shape water governance and resilient communities in mitigating future risks.
  • Innovative approaches leveraging global earth observations from space to improve local, regional, or transboundary efforts that assess natural resources for conservation and sustainable water management.
  • Studies combining physical and social analyses to examine sustainable water resource management under climate change.
Co-Organized:
  • A - Atmospheric Sciences
  • GC - Global Environmental Change
  • NH - Natural Hazards
  • SY - Science and Society
