East Asia: From Deep Lithosphere Exploration to Geodynamic Evolution

Session ID#: 158165

Session Description:
The continental lithosphere is the foundation of our human society. The long-term geodynamic evolution which built continental East Asia has provided abundant natural resources and a livable environment for the large population of the region. However, there are still many unresolved geological issues that require still more detailed observations of the deep structure and  composition, coupled with more sophisticated modeling of the geodynamics, of the East Asian continent, with particular reference to its resources and environmental context. New geological surveys, deep lithosphere exploration surveys, and geodynamic modeling have made outstanding contributions toward resolving these issues. Here we seek to combine the multidisciplinary constraints from these new efforts to expand further understanding of the complex deep structure and multistage evolution of East Asia.
