Salinization of Freshwater Environments: Solutions, Fate, Transport, Trends, and Impacts on Biota
Salinization of Freshwater Environments: Solutions, Fate, Transport, Trends, and Impacts on Biota
Session ID#: 158314
Session Description:
This session invites research that examines salinization of freshwater from physical chemical and biological aspects. Research on salinization of freshwater is often approached from a wide range of professionals such as geochemists, limnologist, or agricultural scientists. Here, we would like to encourage research on the impacts, sources, and consequences of increased salinity in freshwater. Topics such as ecological impacts, effects of salinity on contaminants of concern, or methods to identify sources and solutions of salinization are welcome. Evaluations and studies across environments, such as urban, stormwater, or rural research areas, from local to global and short to long term scales are encouraged. Studies that work across disciplines and establish linkages for better understanding of the potential future of water resources under changes in salinity of freshwater systems are of great interest.
