Limnology, Paleolimnology, and Limnogeology - Lakes as Archives of Climate and Environment Variability and Geohazards

Session ID#: 158517

Session Description:
Lacustrine deposits are valuable archives that preserve evidence of natural hazards and provide records of chemical, ecological, and climatic variability over a range of timescales, including modern meteorological events, millennia, and millions of years. The depth and breadth of lacustrine studies is continuously expanding as new proxies, analytical techniques, and proxy system models are added to the burgeoning limnogeological toolkit. The purpose of this session is to provide an open forum for limnologists, paleolimnologists, and limnogeologists interested in the wide spectrum of lake archives and lacustrine environments from across the globe, including individual records from the modern and Holocene as well as studies that investigate broad spatial and temporal ranges using lacustrine archives. Studies exploring all aspects of climate and environment reconstructions, proxy development, proxy system modeling are welcome and undergraduate participation is especially encouraged.
