Applications and Advances in Array Methods for Analyzing Global Seismic Data

Session ID#: 158659

Session Description:
The proliferation of seismic arrays with new sensing technology (e.g., nodal geophones and distributed acoustic sensing) has revolutionized earthquake data acquisition and interrogation. Spear-headed by continuously decreasing instrument cost, improved portability and convenient installations, the spatial sampling density of earthquake data has been gradually approaching that of exploration seismology. This enables and calls for new and innovative techniques to better exploit array data for both structural and source imaging.

We invite contributions on the topic of array methods including, but not limited to, developing innovative array processing and imaging techniques, optimizing array design and configuration for signal and resolution improvements, and application of array methods to subsurface structural imaging and seismic source analysis. We particularly welcome the ideas and techniques inspired by other communities, e.g., exploration geophysics, acoustic, and radio-astronomy that advance array analysis of global seismic data.
