Venus Beyond the Veil

Session ID#: 159840

Session Description:
The planning and selections of multiple missions to Venus in the next decade herald a new generation of Venus science and exploration. Nevertheless, researchers continue to advance the state of knowledge of the planet by leveraging new techniques and technology in the analysis of archived mission data (e.g., Akatsuki, Venus Express, Magellan, Pioneer Venus, Venera/VEGA). The results of these recent insights continue to provide clearer pictures of a planet whose geology, chemistry and geodynamics are so heavily shrouded in mystery. This session showcases recent advances in understanding key aspects of Venus’ dynamic present and past. Submissions are especially encouraged for work that creates testable hypotheses to which the coming generation of mission data can be applied, or that identifies knowledge gaps that could be addressed in future missions. The next generation of researchers are crucial to the vitality of the Venus community, and presentations by early career individuals are warmly welcomed.
